Multi Level Marketing

Multi Level Marketing or MLM is a way of moving a product or a service from the manufacturer or the provider to the consumers. It is a system of compensation which provides to people that move that product or service.

There are different methods of moving products via Multilevel Marketing. Retailing such as a department store or a drug store or a place you actually have to go to buy the product.

Then there is what is called Direct Sales companies such as Longaberger or the ever popular Tupperware companies use this type of selling.

Another type of Multilevel Marketing is called Mail Order. This is usually grouped in with the direct sales method.

At one time before it became illegal there was what was called Pyramid Sales. It became illegal because people were not moving a product or a valid service. Because of this type of sales method, at one time, most people object to it because they do not realize the differences of Multilevel Marketing, Direct Sales and the Pyramid Sales ways of marketing. You will find Multi Level Marketing companies that are reputable that belong to the Direct Selling Association.

People are conditioned to think that MLM is door to door direct sales programs for example there are magazine companies that do this method of selling.

Lastly there is Wholesale, where you can purchase products for yourself as a consumer with the option of being able to sell the products at retail to in order to make a profit. In regards to Multi Level Marketing it is often a misconception that you companies have to sell at retail prices in order to successful.

By building a strong company or organization, you are creating a network to channel your product or service. Retailing the foundation of network marketing, sales in Multi Level Marketing or Network Marketing will come from distributors, Direct Sales is the sponsoring of other distributors and it is also referred to as recruiting

If you are a sponsor you have made a commitment to show or teach others how to do what you do and in this you are showing them how to build their own business. As the organization you are a sponsor of grows you will then be on your way to being an independent business person and the best part is you are your own boss.

In Direct Selling companies you are working for a company and if you want to move away from a particular company you will then have to start all over.

In most Multi Level Marketing Programs even if you move your home base you more then likely can do so without loosing any volume generated by a group you left behind you.

Remember with Multi Level Marketing it is not a pyramid scheme. You will start at the bottom and build upward to a large organization and you can even build it larger then your sponsor’s.

MLM is a solution to distribution costs; there are no channels between the company that produces a product or service to the consumer.
